There are no CPAPs?
Currently as of writing this post in January 2022. There is a worldwide shortage. Brought on and made much worst by the Respironics recall of their paps, the global supply chain issues, and of course the Pandemic.
There are several manufacturers out there. As a rule, I don’t use them. When I decide on what manufacturer I’ll use and/or recommend to clients. There are several criteria I look at.
- How easy is it for a patient to use
- How easy is it for a patient to clean and get parts for
- Does it upload and give a good detailed report of what the patient has been doing.
For the past almost 10 years that has been Resmeds pap units.
That being said pressure is pressure and any CPAP that will give correct pressure will work.
How do you get a CPAP?
The first thing I’d do is decide do you go through insurance and wait? Or do you pay cash and still possibly wait?
There are thousands of CPAP not being used. Start asking around and see if you have a friend that is not using theirs. Like I said you need pressure and any unit will work. At this time I would not use a Respironics CPAP.
I will go over cpap and pressures in another article.
