Why are you dragging through life?
You need more energy and want to feel better. And, of course, with the least pain to your usual way of doing things. Let’s start with what may take energy from you.
- Poor sleep
- Poor diet or the wrong diet for you
- Medications
- Not enough movement
- Not enough sunlight
- Stress
- Loneliness
- To much screen time
- Not enough joy in your life
Let’s break each of these down. Not in any particular order.
Remember, you are just a bag of cheap chemicals all thrown together to make up the miracle that is you. When you do something that changes those chemicals, there is always a reaction.
Have you noticed when you watch a commercial for a drug they are selling on TV, after all the pretty pictures and sales job they always quickly list off what can also happen if you take the medication? So might have fixed one issue only to create another, possibly more, that will need to be treated with another medication. And the cycle begins of tearing down your natural bag of chemicals.
The easiest place to start Sleep
Sleep is the single most important thing we can do for our bodies. It’s so important that the lack of sleep is used as a weapon. Not enough sleep, your body starts to break down. You crave more sugary foods. Here are some basic questions to ask yourself.
- How fast are you going to sleep? Does it take you less than 20 minutes or more than 20 minutes?
If you fall asleep within just a few minutes of your head hitting the pillow, you are too tired. Either from poor quality of sleep or working very hard that day. This is when your brain starts to work on the day and begins trying to since to the day. It’s ok to that 15 to 20 minutes to unwind from the day.
- How many times do you hit the snooze alarm?
If you have had good restorative sleep, you should be able to wake up without an alarm. Once in a while for, a special occasion is different.
- How many hours do you usually sleep when on vacation, unemployed, or working from home?
I like using this example. My husband will always tell me only needs 6 hours of sleep. But there was a period he was unemployed. He’d get 8 hours, and now that he is working from home, he again gets 8 hours. Waking without an alarm. For him, his true need is 8 hours. Without it, he’s grouchy and falls asleep easily when sitting in his recliner.
- Are you able to wake up without an alarm and feel like you are ready for the day?
In the above example, if you have figured out how many hours you really need and get it, you should wake up after your needed hours and go through your day without needing a nap unless you are eating the wrong foods. More on that later.
- If you fall asleep within just a few minutes of your head hitting the pillow, you are too tired. Either from poor quality of sleep or working very hard that day.
This is when your brain starts working on the day and trying to make sense of the day. It’s ok to that 15 to 20 minutes to unwind from the day.
- Do you snore, or as someone told you, do you stop breathing at night?
Sleep Apnea is one of the easiest problems to diagnose and fix.
If you had high scores on the screening test. Your next step is to get a home sleep test. Unless you have cardiac issues you may want to ask for a lab test.
If you have a doctor he can order this test from Virtuox or a local DME.
